Rongai Route starting from the north-eastern side of the Mount Kilimanjaro near the Kenyan border, the Rongai Route rises above the Amboseli plains and approach the summit of Kilimanjaro west of the Mawenzi peak. It is a neglected route and is also the calmest camping approach to Uhuru Peak.
The descent usually uses the Marangu Route. There are two differences to this route. You can choose to attempt the summit via Mawenzi Tarn Hut or via School Hut which is also referred to as the Outward Bound Hut. The former is longer and more popular. Prior acclimatization is suggested in order to attempt the latter successfully.

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro
We climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in July with Jiwe Adventures. From the first email to the final farewell at the airport, the treatment we received from Jiwe was fantastic. Edgar answered all emails immediately and efficiently. On arrival at Moshi airport we were met by a Jiwe representative who was extremely friendly. He even had a bottle of water for us to drink on our trip to the hotel. Edgar met us at our hotel with one of our guides who checked our gear and took us through the details of our trip. The climb itself was fantastic. Our guides Goodluck and Edward were brilliant. Their knowledge of the mountain, advise and encouragement helped us to reach the summit in six days. They were extremely helpful and filled our days with interesting discussions. The porters were outstanding, the food was great and our waiter was fabulous. When we got down the mountain he was there with a cold drink for us. After 6 days of climbing this was greatly appreciated. We had our own portable toilet which is a must on the mountain. Jiwe Adventures go over and above what you would expect. Their prices are very reasonable for the quality of service they provide. If you are thinking of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro then you should use Jiwe Adventures. They are brilliant and will help make your trip one you will never forget.
